Islam versus Europe: Guardian Recommends Germans Learn Turkish to Aid Integration

One in five people living in Germany now comes from an immigrant background, according to figures released on Thursday. They show that the minority community grew by more than 1.3% last year at a time when the overall population is falling.

Figures from the German Federal Statistical Office show that the number of people with immigrant backgrounds living in Germany increased by 216,000 from 2010 to 2011. Multiculturalism has been a fiercely controversial topic in Germany in recent years, engendering vigorous debate over the integration of immigrants, many of whom moved to the country in the 1960s as guest workers from Turkey. There are now 16 million people with an immigrant background living in Germany – 19.5% of the country's population.

Younger people are starting to make an effort to reach out to the Turkish communities to integrate themselves with their neighbours. Marlene Schliepach, 26, is studying to become a kindergarten teacher and started learning Turkish two years ago in an effort to be able to talk to the children she will be caring for.

"I'm learning Turkish because I want to convey to my Turkish students that I, as their teacher, and as a German, value their language," she said. "Lots of teachers want to make them focus on only learning German. But integration has to go both ways."

Some, such as Tim Panhorst, 27, are learning Turkish because of family connections to the culture, but think it is important for Germans to attempt to reach out. "I wasn't really learning it from school, but from friends and relatives because my brother is married to a Turkish girl," he said.

"But when I meet Turkish people and speak to them in the language, my experience is that they are always glad someone German can. It's always a way of connecting, and in a positive way."

It's the Turks who should be learning your language and integrating with you by respecting the host nation...Learning the language is fine but put your own heritage first or you'll lose it...

Btw, is the Turkish girl a muslim? I only ask because it is Haram (a sin and not allowed) for a muslim woman to marry someone who is not of the Islamic faith...The same does not apply to muslim men though....I wonder why???; 20 September 2012 20:40

You are right about jews (at least some of them) being the biggest drivers for the multicult invasion. Bit undecided about their motives, if i was a jew the last thing I'd want is loads of koranimals living near me.

You are right in all you say. Jewish intellectuals are mainly on the left, and they have been the main proponents of open borders, leading to the destruction of the West.

Laurence Auster has commented on this phenomenon quite often. It is almost as if Jews hate Christianity and the Christian West, with greater vehemence then their enmity with Islam.

We saw this in the recent rant by a Jewish commentator against present Germans. It never occurred to him to show any thought for 10 million Christians killed by the Nazis. No reparations or remorse by anyone here.; 21 September 2012 11:35

It isnt correct to say jews dont pay much attention to the talmud, and the anti - Christian tenor obviously has more influence than we are able to divine. In Israel Christians are reguarly spat upon. If the third world invasion of the White countries continues Whites will eventually become minorities in most if not all of the Western countries. Jews are the main drivers of the multiculture - and by extension jews are the main drivers of the White extinction/genocide. Do we have to wait until 40 percent of Germans are foreign born before we realise we are looking at deliberate White genocide? When Whites constitute less than 50 percent of the French will we then say its White genocide? Its time to face the real truth about whats going on. If that means we have have to out the real architects of the White genocide then bring it on.

Being open to other cultures doesn't mean you lose your own or that you don't have pride in your own traditions. It means that you can enrich your own personal experience and maybe find that you have many things in common with others. we shouldn't just focus on differences - that only leads to fear or hatred. If both parties begin to learn the others' languages, then they'll begin to understand each other and learn to live together without hassle. There's no mention of anyone being forced, these peple simply wanted to learn another language in addition to their own. This article may have been selected to show it in a negative light but thank you for sharing because I think it is a very positive move & I'm glad I was able to see it. Hope you have a great day.
