Islam versus Europe

Only last week I was wondering why the only significant Counterjihad party in Spain seems to be the Catalan nationalist party Plataforma Per Catalunya (PxC), whose activities are obviously confined to Catalonia. Now it seems a new Counterjihad/nationalist party is to emerge with nationwide scope.

A meeting was held in Marbella at the weekend to discuss the formation of the new party, which, as yet, doesn't have a name. Businessmen, professionals, a former minister and two former regional presidents are said to be involved in it. A party conference will be held in January and its political debut, appropriately enough, will be in the Andalusian elections of 2012.

The Russian nationalist leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky unexpectedly turned up at the event in Marbella because he happened to be on holiday in Spain and knew one of the men involved in creating the new party.

Manuel Frías has been elected its provisional spokesman. While expressing respect for the PxC, he ruled out the idea of an electoral pact or partnership with it.

The party's key principles were described as follows:

Opposition to immigrant flows into Spain that have occurred as a result of the successive laws on citizenship, the defence of Christian humanism as the basis of our national identity, the rejection of the islamisation of Spanish territory and the socialisation of part of our productive sector constitute the axes around which the political programme of the nationalist party will revolve, even in its embryonic state.
